We are dedicated to our clients, our people, our community and excellence.
Since 1920, we have maintained not only a commitment to excellence in the practice of law-- but also have maintained a commitment to community leadership.
We are deeply involved as community leaders and participants in local political, cultural, charitable and historical associations. Portsmouth is one of the most significant historical and cultural cities in New Hampshire and has a rich tradition of istoric preservation and artistic, cultural and charitable activities. We have been Presidents, Officers and Board Members of the following institutions: Strawbery Banke Museum, the Children's Museum of Portsmouth, Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities, Portsmouth Athenaeum, Seacoast United Way, Chase Home for Children, Greater Portsmouth Charitable Fund, Seacoast Mental Health Center, Japan-America Society of New Hampshire, the Portsmouth Peace Treaty Forums, and the Community Diversion Program which diverts troubled youth from the court system to community service and education.
We are also well-known and respected Leaders of business and planning organizations including: Portsmouth City Council, Portsmouth School Board, Portsmouth Board of Building Appeals, Citizens' Advisory Council for Community Development, Portsmouth Rotary Club, Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce, Foundation for Seacoast Health and Leadership Seacoast.
Within the legal community, we are active members in the New Hampshire and Maine Bars. We regularly publish articles in scholarly and legal journals. We are leaders in state and local bar association activities, members of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and Fellows of the New Hampshire Bar Foundation. We founded the local chapter of the "American Inns of Court" - a prestigious organization of judges and attorneys dedicated to the continuing improvement of the legal system and legal profession and which continually improves the skills of attorneys through self-administered legal education programs. We serve as court-appointed mediators within the New Hampshire Superior Court Systems, and many of our partners are considered premiere mediators within that system.
